Here in Canada, we saw important steps forward in the fight against Alzheimer’s and dementia this month. The Canada-France Global Dementia event in Ottawa brought together international experts to develop a framework to speed up the transformation of dementia research into real life products and services. Public-private partnerships like these are crucial for advancing Alzheimer’s research and development, but raising public awareness about this disease is just as important.
In large parts of the world, people still consider dementia a normal part of aging and not a disease of the brain. Increasing awareness helps to dispel myths like these, educate about the scope and impact of this disease, and empower people to start becoming advocates for smart public policies that will help to combat Alzheimer’s.
In honor of World Alzheimer’s Month, the global awareness month for Alzheimer’s and other dementias, we’ve created a short quiz in the spirit of increasing education about this disease. I hope you’ll take the time to take this quiz featuring ten key facts about Alzheimer’s and also to share it with your friends and family!
