Keeping Canada Competitive

Rx&D President Russell Williams wrote a great blog last week on the positive impacts of free trade agreements for Canada. September saw the signing of the Canada-Korea Free Trade Agreement as well as publication of the text of the Canada-Europe trade agreement text. As Williams notes, these trade agreements are a key part of making Canada a more attractive destination for global investment in health research. Williams’ post highlights the importance of strengthening Canada’s IP regime in order to improve access to innovative medicines and help Canada remain globally competitive on the world stage.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. In Canada, 1 in 9 women will be diagnosed with the disease. This month is not only an opportunity to bring together Canadians who have been impacted by breast cancer, but also a time to raise awareness about the disease and raise funds for research into its cause, prevention, diagnosis, treatment and cure.

#CanadaStrong

We have all been impacted by the horrible events in Ottawa and Québec over the past several days. The murder of two Canadian Forces members has been felt by all Canadians. We extend our sincere condolences to the family and loved ones of both Nathan Cirillo and Patrice Vincent.

In response to these senseless acts of violence, a fund has been set up to help the families of the deceased. 100% of the funds gathered, minus the fees used to pay for the crowd sourcing platform, will be transferred. There will be no other charges or costs.  All funds will be transferred directly to the families via the Regimental Associations or to True Patriot Love Foundation as the families or next of kin direct the Fund.

We encourage everyone to get involved, share this website, share the profile pictures, make your own tribute and to donate in memory of these two brave Canadians.
