October means many things like pumpkins, scarves, and hot chocolate. This month is also an opportunity for people living with psoriasis to speak out in honour of World Psoriasis Day.
World Psoriasis Day gives a global voice to the more than 125 million people living with psoriasis.
We’re joining others around the world to help raise awareness about psoriasis under this year’s theme of ‘Breaking Barriers for People with Psoriasis’. World Psoriasis Day is presented by the International Federation of Psoriasis Associations (IFPA), who is asking for your help in the effort to spread the message that we can all help #breakbarriers against psoriasis.
A lack of information may lead some people to believe that psoriasis is contagious, which is untrue. Psoriasis is a serious chronic and incurable skin condition that can be both physically and psychologically disabling. It can cause as much disability as cancer, diabetes and other major medical diseases.
People living with psoriasis can face barriers in many aspects of their life. Often feeling stigmatized, those with psoriasis may experience loneliness and isolation.
Together, we can help dispel the myths and give people with psoriasis a voice. At Lilly, we're committed to helping break down these barriers and we invite you to do the same. Together we can help stop the cycle of misinformation and increase understanding through education and collaboration.
