Last week, 80 countries from around the world came together in observance of Rare Disease Day. Carrying the conversation into this week, today and tomorrow, CORD, the Canadian Organization for Rare Disorders, is holding their Rare Disease Conference and Action Day, where multiple stakeholders from across the provinces will meet in Ottawa to discuss Canada’s strategy for providing the care and infrastructure to help develop treatments for rare diseases.
Rare diseases are relevant here in Canada. According to some of the latest numbers, almost 1 in 12 Canadians have some form of rare disease or disorder.

By implementing an infrastructure like the Orphan Drug Regulatory Framework, we could see a critical boost in potential treatments on the market. No matter what, we all need to do what we can to work together to provide better care to those Canadians in need.
